With expansion of the market and faster dynamics of business, there was a need for user's tools that could be qualitatively integrated with other products (especially with the MS Office package), while, on the other hand, they provided absolute flexibility in forming reporting systems that are adjusted to the user's needs.
In the area of BI systems, Microsoft completed a portfolio with the acquisition of Proclarity platform, which is one of the biggest provider of BI services in the world. After the acquisition, Microsoft completely integrated Proclarity with the rest of related tools in the offer and got a synergy effect of Proclarity platform and already existing Microsoft tools as well as one of the most developed and most modern BI platforms.
It is important to point out the integration of Performance Point Server tools for the monitoring and planning, related directly to one of the most important parts of Office package (Micxrosoft Excel). Users are thus able to control and plan through the familiar interface of Excel and use all of its numerous possibilities, which they naturally use in the everyday work. The projects based on integrated platform are already widely present on market and the users' reactions are very positive.
Also, the positive side of this approach are the expenses, since it is not necessary to purchase very expensive browsers for reviewing reports - Microsoft Excel is enough – the application that is used by most of the companies in their everyday work. However, Comminus goes forward and simplifies the matter in a way that it is not necessary to license reporting system according to number of users, but only the system design is charged – regardless of the number of users.
Excel itself is the most used BI client in the world. Its possibilities in the 2007 version have been perfected to the top level, which makes data access and making analyses simpler and with more options. Very widely used is Data Mining model which you can use and not change interface – i.e. directly from Excel. The combination of all the options mentioned makes Excel the most eligible tool for the access and use of analytical models and data.
